Timbuktu Media publisher of 234Next, is a new media organization, based in Lagos, Nigeria. As well as a print newspaper, significant emphasis is being placed on the digital offering, via the website and mobile/sms. We are recruiting for the positions below:

Online Content Producer

General Role

There is therefore need for a Multimedia Content Producer to plan and generate multi-media (video, audio/podcasts) and user-generated content (UGC) for and other Timbuktu Media digital platforms.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The duties are as follows:
    Ensure the website is updated as often is required using the proprietary content management system (CMS)
    Support content development, management processes and quality control where required
    Plan, structure, report, and write news and information content for Web sites and other new media platforms
    Produce site content to optimize the user experience by being attentive to live web metrics and UE best practices.
    Enhance the news content with outside links, maps, slideshows.
    Work with other departments, including sales and marketing, as needed on site and station initiatives that require content integration
    Convert new media content to broadcast style.
    Coordinate news editorial and technical staff to facilitate the migration of multi-media content to new media platforms, including video, audio, still photos and graphics
    Will assist in online coverage of major news events, breaking news.
    Build out special sections and site features to enhance coverage and increase site-user engagement
    Manage wire feeds and publish to the web site where appropriate.

Accountabilities

The principal accountable role is to fill www.234NEXT.com with multi-media content (proprietary and UGC) which
a) engages our audiences and
b) drives traffic to the site.

Qualification and experience:

Bachelors degree and training in multimedia production.
Must have aptitude in Adobe Premiere and digital audio editing

Job Attributes

    The Online Content Producer should have at least 2 years professional experience
    Must demonstrate good journalism and writing skills as well as an understanding of current events
    Must understand basic journalism legal principles.
    Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure
    Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom environment strongly preferred
    Working knowledge of online content-management systems preferred
    Working knowledge of web-design tools, such as HTML, Flash, ASP.Net, DreamWeaver, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, and FTP programs

Responsibilities

The Quarry Manager will oversee all areas of operation at the Quarry and ensuring that quarries, pits and opencast sites operate successfully; oversee all operations, both on site and in the office, manage staff, coordinate production and monitor all site systems.

Experience & Requirements

HND or BSc in Mining /Civil Engineering with practical working experience in the running of a quarry both in Nigeria or Abroad.
An MBA degree would be an added advantage.
Not less than 40 years of age
A minimum of 10 years practical experience in related industry.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages, Internet etc.

2.) Electrical / Electronic Engineers

Design, construct and installation of power plants. Installation and maintenance of crushers and cones in a large scale quarry.
 
Qualification and Experience

HND or BSc in Electrical / electronics with practical experience in Quarry and mining.
Not less than 30 years of age.
5-8 years post qualification experience.
Working knowledge of major crushing equipment such as SANVIK machines will be an added advantage.
Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering manuals.
Must be familiar with Microsoft projects such Microsoft excel.
Must be Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) competent.
COREN certified or other professional qualification is an added advantage.
Must be a super user of Microsoft Packages, Internet etc.

3.) Civil Engineer

Location:  Port Harcourt

Job Description and Activities

Performing engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, bridges, harbours, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, oil wells, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units. Includes architectural, structural, traffic, ocean, and geo-technical engineering skills and expertise Materials quantity control and variance check.

HND or BSC in civil engineering with practical experience in construction of oil drilling locations for major oil companies in Nigeria or abroad
Not less than 30 years of age
5-8 years post qualification experience
Working knowledge of surveying and dredging will be an added advantage
Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings, architectural drafting and design and develop finer details accordance with the set guidelines.
Must be familiar with Microsoft projects such as PRIMAVERA & also Microsoft excel
Must be Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) competent
COREN certified or other professional qualification is an added advantage
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages, Internet etc.
